Hip Hop War Report Episode 13 (X-Clan, Mumia ABu Jamal, Mixtapeshow.net)

Greetings everyone and welcome to a special edition of the Hip Hop War Report. There has been a lot going on in the news and we do our best to give it to our people straight.

The first part of this podcast is provided by Digital Dex from the www.mixtapeshow.net

This is not a simple interview, and its definitely not just another episode. This is a condensed version of a hour long special provided by the mixtapeshow.net. I encourage all War Report listeners to go to www.mixtapeshow.net and get the full episode

During the last few weeks, Hip-Hop has been under serious fire from the mainstream media, not only because of the backlash following Don Imus termination, but the more recent 60 minutes interview featuring Camron and Anderson Coopers interpretation of the Stop Snitching mantra. So in order to bring some clarity to the situation, I spoke to several different community leaders, all of different backgrounds.

Featured guests are as follows:

Aishah Simmons An African-American feminist and activist documentary filmmaker, producer of the award-winning No!: The Rape Documentary, and perhaps best known to longtime listeners of the Mixtape Show as the older sister of Atlantic Recording artist DJ Drama (previously interviewed here).

John Robinson
also known as Lil Sci a producer, MC, and President of Shaman Work Recordings, which has put out releases from artists such as Emanon, CL Smooth, and MF Doom.

Willie Da solo artist and core member of one of the most influential rap groups to ever come out of the South, the Geto Boys.

Davey D Hip-hop historian, journalist, deejay, and community activist, whose website, Davey-D's Hip-Hop Corner, is one of the oldest and most respected Hip-Hop sites on the net.

The second part of the podcast is a very special interview with Brother Jay from the X-Clan. Brother Jay speaks on conscious hip hop and its ability to reach people. He also expresses his views on the upliftment of people through unity. Brother Jay gives his opinions on the Iraq War and how the people have giving up on the system. We also bless you with some exclusive X-Clan from their latest album titled Return from Mecca available on www.Xclanmusic.com

Finally we have political prisoner Mumia Abu Jamal speaking on decolonization and how the same struggle is fought on a global front. We are very blessed to have Mumia's voice to enlighten our struggle right here on the Hip Hop War Report. Thank You MUMIA!

FREE MUMIA ABU JAMAL! Please make note of this date on your calendars!

MAY 17:
ALL OUT IN PHILADELPHIA IN SUPPORT OF MUMIA!

On May 17th Mumia's case will be reviewed by The Third Circuit Court Of Appeals in Philadelphia to decide whether Mumia gets a new trial, life in prison without parole, or execution.  The whole world is watching how The Third Circuit will rule.  We must let them know where we stand:  Only Mumia's release or a new trial is acceptable!  MAY 17 WILL BE THE START OF AN ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL STAGE IN THE STRUGGLE FOR MUMIA'S LIFE AND FREEDOM.
